Flames disappoint at London Tournament
A combined Flames and Knights team failed to make an impact on this years London Tournament in Croydon with a series of disappointing games over both days of the weekend invitational hitout.

Richmond went into the tournament confident after getting an easy draw and finishing in the top 8 each of the previous two years. However a narrow loss to Great Britian Juniors and a 10 run defeat a the hands of Shropshire meant they would not be playing off for the trophy a third year running. Tom Seidenstein the only player to stand out on the Saturday with a solid piching performance and a towering home run.

In a tournament littered with upsets other big name teams to miss out on finals action were the favoured Irish National Team and pervious winners and tournament hosts Croydon Pirates. As luck would have it, Richmond drew both these teams on the Sunday for the 'best of the rest' consolation competition. Hopelessly undermanned and missing key players Richmond went on to lose both games. The Irish (who sounded like they were more from Idaho than Ireland) dishing out an embarassing 21 - 0 defeat.

Knights' manager Ian Cox took some positives out of what was on the whole a slighly disappointing tournament for the organisation. "This tournament was a good experience for the newer players. Many of the Knights, who don't normally play against this quality of opposition, really stepped up and played above themselves."

No doubt Richmond will be back next year trying to make a tournament final, an achievement that has alluded them in their short but impressive history.
