London Tournament    July 14-15

Flames crash Nash to claim 8th place
In the annual London Tournament where the Flames have consistently done well over the years, the Flames finished a respectable 8th.

Along the way, the Flames were set up against their old manager Wayne Nash, who was coaching a young Great Britain side. A depleted Flames squad pulled together and held the big bats of Nash and his boys and won comfortably 8-4. Nash was visably upset by the defeat to his young squad at the hands of his old club.

A solid pitching effort from Canadian Josh Scuby kept the Great Britain team to only 1 run in the first 3 innings. Derek Harvie of the Knights helped spark the hitting parade for the Flames legging out an exciting triple.

In their second game, and in typical Richmond Flames style, they came from behind to beat Alconbury to qualify for the winners round. A great effort by all the players to beat one of the best young sides in the country.

In the winners round, a depleted Flames squad lost badly to eventual winners and host Croydon Pirates as well as losing to the mighty team from South Africa.

Despite the disappoinments of the final day of the tournament, they have much to be proud of for their accomplishments in yet another successful London Tournament.
