Richmond Earns First Silverware of 2005 Richmond brought home the first silverware of 2005, sweeping the opposition teams 4-0 in the second Anglo-Essex Tournament held over the weekend of 2nd/3rd April 2005.The club showed strong support for the event, fielding two full teams - a demonstration of both the club`s size and strength in-depth. "Richmond A", led by manager Jesus Gandera won all four of its games to take the Anglo-Essex Trophy. The team was a mix of Flames, Knights and a couple of Dragons thrown in on day two. Knights` player and club treasurer Dan Lally collected the Trophy and champagne on behalf of the team. Less successful was "Richmond B" led by John Walmsley, that played hard but also found it hard to find even a single victory, leaving the tournment with a winless record of 0-4. The team was a mix of Dragons, Riverdogs and rookies - including some playing in their first ever baseball games. The tournament provided lots of games over the weekend to help prepare the players for the coming season and allow the team captains to finalise team-selections ahead of the start of the season.
